After a few too many airline meals, scattered sleep sessions, and good conversation along the way, Char and I are in Kenya. We picked up our luggage from baggage claim at the airport and headed straight to the hotel. Falling asleep at 9:00pm seemed like a good idea at the time. That is, until we woke up this morning at 3:00am, full of energy and ready for the day. We spent several hours reading and talking to help pass the time. Eventually, breakfast time rolled around, and we were treated to omelets, fresh fruit and coffee. Following our meal, we had the blessing of meeting Benson Mutisya, African Leadership [Mocha Club’s parent organization) National Director in Kenya.
Benson is truly a great man. He serves the people of this country with passion, humility and grace. We are excited to introduce you to him as we get settled in east Africa. In the meantime, we are working with Benson to organize our visits to various Mocha Club projects in Kenya. Among our confirmed visits: the HEKO Project (HIV/AIDS), New Dawn School (Education) and the village of Kitui (Orphan Care, and Famine Relief). We are also planning a safari for the last two days of our time here.
We are thankful to have high-speed internet access at our hotel and therefore hope to upload our first video by the end of the week. For now, keep checking the website and our Twitter page for the latest. As always, thank you for taking the time to read and journey with us as we experience Mocha Club in Africa. Please keep in touch, and contact us if you have any questions, just want to say hi, or have ideas for a future blog post. Take care.
